I feel that my presentation on Thursday went fairly well. I tried to stay true to my personality and vision as an artist and focused primarily on my process. One of the main critiques of my presentation was that it just sort of ended, and I can't argue with that. However, I feel in the future that when I have more visual material completed for my BFA that I feel I will have more to talk about and show my potential client/employer that I not only have a good work process but that I follow through with what I've planned as well. As far as there needing to be more supporting visuals to help compare and contrast the images I'm talking about, I completely agree. In the future my plan is to have an interactive pdf file that also doubles as a slideshow, allowing me fuller control over my content than the blog allows. It would also potentially show off some of my design skills that I feel I have gleaned so far and easily arrange the images and video like I want.
The feedback I received on the personal portion of my presentation was also really helpful. I know I mentioned the school quite a bit but I guess I was approaching the presentation as still being very much in the classroom setting at MCA as opposed for a job interview or something. Now that I know what is expected of me I'm sure this won't be a problem in the future. Some of the speech was a bit off the cuff, which I thought helped the presentation feel more natural, but next time I think I will be more precise about what I want to say. I will say that not having notecards allowed me to connect with my audience more and not be tempted to look down on them during the presentation, so in the future I may be more structured but have my speech memorized instead of having cards.
Overall I felt this presentation was much stronger than the one I gave at the beginning of the semester. Next time will be even better.
