Demo Reel and Job Research

Demo Reels:

2011 Reel from Kirsten Lepore on Vimeo.

The thing I really love about this demo reel is that even though it is primarily stopmotion work, it also features a variety of mediums. I also think her custom animated opening really helps you immediately see what kind of animator she is. The reel keeps a fast pace that doesn't leave you bored or waiting for more action. Although it is a little longer than we are usually advised to make our demo reels, it is really the perfect length for her work.

Headless studio reel 2010 from Headless Productions on Vimeo.

Even though this is a studio reel and therefore has a higher caliber of work, I just admire its style. The pacing is so top notch and all the colors are as well. I think what works most in this video is that all of their work is consistent in style and flows smoothly into each other. As a studio, their vision is clear and dynamic.

Jobs:

Stop Motion Animator at LAIKA - Ever since Coraline came out I have wanted to work for Laika. To work on a feature length production is my dream and to work on an stop motion feature would be even better. These are large productions and seem incredibly intricate and challenging. A dream job!

Stop Motion Graphic Artist at LAIKA - Really same as above.

Stop Motion Animation Intern at Buddy System Studios - An exclusive stop motion studio that has been around since the 80s. Although unpaid, they have supported a large amount of interns in the past and seem to be very hands on (experience is always good).

Places I would like to work that have no current listings: Aardman Studios, Cartoon Saloon, Cinder Biter, Klasky Csupo, Soup2Nuts
