First Post

So, the start of my final year at MCA. Wow.

My proposal for my senior thesis is a stop motion piece with at least one armature (although it may be two in the end). I already purchased the armature and want to start on that process as soon as possible. Below is the script for my animation, followed by a character sketch and scene lighting reference sketch.

INT. OFFICE - FACING DOOR.
A detective's office is bathed in moonlight. The space is small and cramped and totally covered in stacks of files and paper. The glass pane of the door casts a warm glow from the light of the hallway. The office is still.
Footsteps from the stairwell can be heard in the hallway. The footsteps get louder as they approach the door then stop.
The shadow of a figure silhouettes in the door. There is a sound of fumbling keys.
INT. HALLWAY - FACING DOOR.
A hand slides a key into the lock while another hand jiggles the door knob.
The door jams and soft muttering can be heard.
The door knob is twisted a little more forcibly and the door finally gives in.
INT. OFFICE
The door opens and the figure steps into the cool darkness of the room, remaining in the shadows. A light switch is flipped on and a dim light casts down into the room.
INT. OFFICE - FRANK'S POV.
SLOW PAN of the office.
The figure's shadow is cast on the wall.
INT. OFFICE
FRANK sighs, his shoulders slump. He walks over to the coat rack, removes his hat and coat, and hangs them. He stretches his arms upward and rubs the small of his back. He turns towards a small square mirror hanging on the wall traces his dark eye bags. He reaches up to his tie and loosens the knot but leaves it draped around his neck.
FRANK turns around and picks up the small collection of mail at the base of the door and shuffles over to the desk.
FRANK collapses into his chair with a soft thud and tosses the mail to the corner of his desk. He rubs hand against his face and shakes his head tiredly. He pushes the files around his desk to clear space.
FRANK fiddles with his wedding ring and looks at the clock on the wall.
FRANK slides his chair slightly backward, supporting his upper body on his knee. He slides opens the deep right bottom drawer and withdraws a shot glass and a bottle of whiskey and places them on the desk.
FRANK pours himself a shot and quickly downs it. He pours another and rests his hand against the cool glass, pausing before downing that shot as well. He sets the glass back on the desk.
Frank pulls out the shallow middle drawer. Pushing pens and other office supplies aside, he fumbles for an opened package of cigarettes. He looks inside the pack and procures a cigarette, his hand reaching for a lighter. He shuts the drawer and lights the cigarette. His free hand runs through what is left of his hair as he takes a long drag.
FRANK slumps back into his chair and relaxes. He glances back up at the clock and the back to his wedding ring, then looks forward at nothing in particular, just deep in thought.
FRANK slides open the drawer to his left and glances at its contents. He takes another drag of his cigarette then looks up and around, checking for anyone in earshot. With a soft smile he reaches into the drawer.
INT. HALLWAY - FACING DOOR
Sounds of clothes rustling and zippers zipping can be heard through the door.
Silence.
A dark silhouette appears in the doorway.
The door knob turns and the door opens.
FRANK emerges in full drag with a large curly blonde wig and sequined dress. He smiles widely and turns around, locking the door behind him.
FRANK walks off frame with a spring in his step.
FADE OUT.
THE END.
